Byron Donalds tells town hall “don’t boo” as he is loudly jeered

Florida Republican Rep. Byron Donalds was loudly booed at a town hall event in Estero while answering a question about DOGE cuts to the Social Security Administration, which he said had been authorized by President Donald Trump.

“Don’t boo,” Donalds, who is is campaigning for Florida’s governorship, told the crowd, and he tried to speak about the previous Biden Administration’s actions.

“So you do not want to hear the full story?” Donalds said as the crowd continued to jeer.

“Allow me to educate and bring you the full story. And when you’re ready, I’m going to tell you, because I don’t want you to yell and not hear the full story. Because you’re not listening, you’re yelling.”

Elon Musk-driven DOGE, short for the Department of Government Efficiency, is slashing what it identifies as fraud and waste in government spending. But its activity is causing political headaches for Trump’s Republican allies.
